S-203, Introduction to Incident Information (Pre-Course Work) 2008

This instructor-led course has pre-course work (estimate 3 hours). Additional information about the course can be found in the Field Manager’s Course Guide (PMS 901-1).

  1. Complete the pre-course work which tests your knowledge of basic ICS concepts. If you are unfamiliar with ICS you may need to first take the FEMA independent study (IS) online course, IS-100.B: Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100 to gain the prerequisite knowledge required to pass the pre-course test. Upon completion of ICS-100, you will then return to this page and complete the pre-course test.
  2.  If you have never been on an incident or stayed in an incident camp, you are encouraged to take the S-110 Basic Wildland Fire Suppression Orientation online course, which consists of a 15 minute video. This video provides essential information for individuals interested in wildland fire management, and is particularly useful for indoctrination of non-fire management employees to the world of wildland fire. The video includes information on personal preparedness and responsibility, mobilization, incident procedures, proper clothing and equipment, and living conditions in wildland fire camps.
